I tackled one of my biggest challenges here: making complex labor data actually make sense to people who weren't data scientists. I built data visualization systems that turned overwhelming spreadsheets into clear insights anyone could understand. I'm particularly proud of creating a progressive disclosure model that let users dig deeper only when they needed to, which dramatically improved how people used the platform. I also set up our first real research program, combining what users told us directly with how they actually used the product.

At Capital One, I led the "Living Money" initiative, which was all about helping people understand their money in a way that actually made sense. Banking can be intimidating, and we wanted to change that. I focused on turning complex financial concepts into experiences that felt clear and trustworthy. I ran design sprints and workshops that pushed our team to think beyond traditional banking interfaces. This was where I really saw how good design could help people feel more confident about their finances.

At Network Solutions, I led the UX storefront team, helping build their B2C platform with innovative new products. I focused on making domain-related services more user-friendly, from domain registration to SEO tools. This role taught me how to simplify technical concepts for everyday users who just wanted to establish their online presence without getting lost in the jargon. I really enjoyed transforming complex domain management processes into intuitive experiences that small business owners could navigate with confidence.

Upside Business Travel
Leading an 8-person design team, I completely reimagined what business travel booking could be. We mapped out the entire customer journey to find all the pain points that travelers experienced, which helped us create a much simpler booking experience. I loved working with users of different tech comfort levels to make sure our platform worked for everyone – from tech-savvy millennials to executives who still preferred printing their itineraries. This role taught me how design can transform even the most frustrating experiences.

Agency life was a fantastic crash course in versatility. I directed design teams across all kinds of projects, which taught me to adapt quickly to different industries and challenges. I loved mentoring younger designers while also rolling up my sleeves to create work that made our clients happy. One of my strengths was explaining design decisions to stakeholders in a way that connected to their business goals, which helped us push through some pretty innovative approaches that might otherwise have been rejected.

This is where my journey began, designing websites for associations and non-profits. I loved the challenge of taking complex membership structures and turning them into websites that actually made sense. Each organization had its own unique needs and constraints, which taught me to be creative with solutions. I'm still proud of some of the approaches we developed for member engagement – they really stood out at a time when most association websites were basically just online brochures.
